"If you can dream it, you can do it." - Walt Disney
Week Seven:
On Monday, our students participated in the highly anticipated Fun Run! The weather was perfect, and the students had a blast spending time outdoors for a wonderful cause. They eagerly ran laps around the track as their teachers tallied their progress, cheering them on with enthusiasm. The event was full of music, balloons, plenty of water, and most importantly, joy!
We extend our deepest gratitude to the incredible Cucinella PTO volunteers, whose hard work made this day so special for our students. A special thank you to PTO Co-Presidents Alyssa Nelson and Nicole Weigel for their leadership and dedication, and to Mrs. McCool for spearheading the effort and keeping everyone excited in the weeks leading up to the event. Of course, a shout-out to our mascot Nellie for helping keep the energy high as the students ran their laps!
Thanks to the tremendous support from everyone, this year's Fun Run raised over $40,000 to fund PTO-sponsored projects at Cucinella. We are incredibly grateful to all who contributed to making this event such a success!
Additionally, the Week of Respect took place from October 7 – 11, and it was a wonderful opportunity for our students to dive into activities and conversations centered around the importance of treating one another with dignity and empathy. Throughout the week, students learned that by working together, they can help foster a more respectful and accepting community here at our school. The positive energy was contagious, and we hope the spirit of respect continues to spread through our halls and beyond!
We kicked off the week with everyone wearing their Fun Run gear on Monday, setting a positive and energized tone. On Tuesday, the hallways were full of inspiring messages as students wore clothing with positive messages or symbols of kindness. Wednesday brought out the workout gear, reminding us how important it is to "work things out" with respect. Thursday saw students and staff flipping their clothes inside-out, representing how true respect starts from within. And on Friday, we wrapped up the week with a cozy pajama day, dreaming of a world filled with kindness and respect. It was a fun, engaging, and meaningful week for everyone, and we’re so proud of the efforts our students put into making respect a daily part of their lives!
Lastly, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Jennifer Meehan, mother of Daniel in Mr. Mauro's homeroom class, for taking the time to speak with our 3rd graders about local government. Mrs. Meehan, who works for the Borough of Netcong, provided our students with a firsthand account of how local government operates, offering valuable insights that enriched their understanding of this important topic. Her visit not only brought the subject to life but also gave our students a unique opportunity to connect classroom lessons to real-world experiences. We are truly grateful for her time and dedication to enhancing our students' learning!
Parents please be mindful of our new AM drop off procedures as outlined in last week's email (attached below as well). Cones have been set up in the drop off area to keep traffic in one lane as we unload our students. Please do not pull around the car in front of you but please wait until the flow of traffic resumes. The safety of our students and staff is paramount and we appreciate your cooperation with these new protocols.
Wishing you a wonderful week ahead,
Christopher Perruso

White Cane Awareness Day
October is Blindness Awareness month which brings a heightened focus on the blind and visually impaired community and the realities of living without sight.
U.S. White Cane Safety Day is observed annually on October 15. It's a day dedicated to visually impaired people. The white cane represents their remarkable achievements and symbolizes their independence in the world.
In light of White Cane Safety Day, it's a good time to remind our school community to be aware of someone using a white cane - when they are in the hallways, staircases and around the community!
Remember that someone using a white cane has difficulty seeing you, so in order to keep everyone safe we need to be aware of our surroundings!
WHY WHITE CANE SAFETY DAY IS IMPORTANT?
There are millions of visually impaired people...
It is estimated that over 250 million people worldwide are visually impaired. White Cane Safety Day is a day to appreciate the achievements of blind people.
It is a reminder to help those who are visually impaired...
This day gives an opportunity to reach out to the people that might need your help. You can attend meetings and events organized on White Cane Safety Day and do something that will help visually impaired people.
It is a day to celebrate the symbol of independence...
White canes are the symbol of independence for the visually impaired. This day calls for learning and educating people about the importance of this tool, and celebrating this symbol of independence.
Parent Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures:
To ensure the continued safety of our students and staff, we are making a few updates to our morning drop-off procedures. We kindly ask for your cooperation with the following guidelines:
Please remain in your car: Parents and guardians should stay inside their vehicles during drop-off to help keep the process moving smoothly.
Be prepared ahead of time: Have all items (backpacks, lunch bags, etc.) ready and accessible before arriving at the drop-off area.
Independent exit: If possible, encourage your child to open the door on their own and exit the vehicle from the passenger side, closest to the school, once you’ve pulled up to the furthest spot available.
Patience is appreciated: We understand mornings can be busy, but please wait for the cars in front of you to move rather than driving around. Our top priority is the safety of our students and staff, which is worth more than a few seconds saved.
Respect the Handicapped spaces: Please avoid parking in the Handicapped spots to drop off children. We want to ensure that all students enter the building safely, and we do not have a crosswalk or staff member to assist them across the drop-off lane.
We truly appreciate your understanding and support in following these procedures. Together, we can create a safer and smoother drop-off experience for everyone.
