FKS Community,

Another wonderful week here at Flocktown-Kossmann!!! So many activities, events, experiences and learning opportunities. See below for information on upcoming events and pictures.

As we move through October, we would like to thank you for your continued support in helping students build strong attendance habits. Your partnership is essential in keeping students engaged and on track for a successful school year.

Our student goal for the month of November is: No Absences!

Why? Because routines should have been established and good habits formed that last throughout the year. Regulation Focus: According to New Jersey Administrative Code (N.J.A.C. 6A:32-8.3), a school day must consist of a minimum of 4 hours of instructional time (exclusive of recess and lunch). Thank you for your continued commitment to student success.

Wishing you a safe, healthy and fun weekend!

Halloween Parade

Friday, October 31 at 12:30-1:00 p.m. for all K through 5 children.

**Our pre-school parade will be held Thursday October 30th at 10am.

In order to have a whole-school, shared experience, and salvage some instructional time in the morning, we condense our Halloween activities into the afternoon for grades K-5. The parade takes place on the field between the two buildings.

We respectfully ask your cooperation with a few important procedural items to ensure the children’s safety and the security of our buildings and grounds during this time:

  • Food is not permitted.

  • Parade will be open to the public with viewing areas around the track.

  • 1:00 - 1:40pm, homerooms will hold class parties led by teachers and homeroom parents.

  • Parties will end by 1:40 to ensure we can properly conduct our dismissal procedures.

  • Please send your child to school with their costume, not wearing their costume.

  • We love parents who dress up but we ask that adults not wear costumes/masks/ apparel that obstructs your face. Security on this day a priority so you will be asked to remove any such item.

  • Please leave your pet at home. We have children with allergies and others who may be fearful.

  • Faculty cars will be parked in other areas on the grounds to free up parade parking but these areas fill quickly. The bus lane is off limits for parking and exiting.

  • Only room parents and those approved by administration are allowed into the building.

  • We ask you to strongly consider letting your child(ren) take the bus home. We will continue with our typical dismissal procedures in both buildings, including parent pick-up.

  • Weapons of any kind are prohibited from school and will be taken and kept in the office for the day.

  • The Washington Township PD will be present to assist us with security.

  • Restrooms are not available to our guests for this event.

In the event of inclement weather, the parade will take place indoors. Unfortunately, if this happens, we are not able to accommodate any guests other than room parents. Fingers crossed for good weather!

With your help, I am sure this event will be as successful as it has been in years past. We look forward to seeing you there and sharing this enjoyable event with you!
