FKS Community,

As we reach the last week of school before the 2 week break, the holiday spirit has been everywhere! There have been so many cross-curricula activities and learning opportunities it has been hard to keep up.

We would like to congratulate those students who became young entrepeneurs and planned, designed, produced and sold their wares at the annual district wide Trep$ showcase last weekend.

Finally thank you to everyone who really got into the holiday mood by participating in our many spirit days. We know it is another thing to add to already busy plates, but the students love it and our goal is to foster a fun environment that children want to be a part of each and every day. This then gives our wonderful staff the best opportunity to help each child grow and learn.

We look forward to the last week of school prior to the break and wish you a warm and healthy weekend.

Holiday Concert

We were amazed by the musical stylings of our 5th grade choral and instrumentalists this week. Considering they have only been learning their pieces for a few months it was extremely impressive to see the confidence and poise with which they performed. Congratulaitons to all the performers and to Ms. Fessenden for giving her heart and soul to the music program here at FKS.

PTA Holiday Shop

A shout out to all the volunteers for making the Holiday Shop another successful experience for our school community. And a special thanks to the following local Long Valley businesses, vendors/crafters who worked with us to provide some items for the shop this year: Hoffman’s Supply; Ort Farms; The Chocolate Shoppe; The Coffee Potter; Anabel Capello (@casualana Handmade); Sara Longuiera (Wool & Grace Felting Co.); Schooleys Mountain Soap; Martine Barbetta (Herb’s East Mill Garage); Cindy Marotta (Missy’s Angels Animal Rescue); Mary Eichler (Craft Club NJ); Susan Cece (@susancece.art); Angela Barth (Daisy Hill Farm); and Maggie Leppert

Colonial Day

Congrats Mr. Churchill

We want to share a highlight from a professional development conference held recently that all Washington Twp Physical Education teachers attended. Our very own Mr. Churchill represented our district and shared his expertise with more than 100 professionals from across New Jersey, including students from William Paterson University. These conferences give our teachers the chance to bring back new tools for our classrooms/gyms, but also to showcase the incredible talent within our own district. Mr. Churchill is a prime example of a professional who elevates our practice and expands the scope of what we can offer our students. Congratulations to Mr. Churchill and the whole WTS Physcial Education team.

Lenni Lenape Presentation

The Lenni Lenape Presentation this week was a huge hit with our Kossmann students. With all the hands-on activities centered around animals, bones, and artifacts as well as perfect alignment with the 2nd grade curriculum,  it was both fun and educational!.
