News of the fire at the local dog rescue, OSCAR, has already touched many in our community. By now, many families are aware of this heartbreaking event, which has been deeply felt by animal lovers across the area.
Thanks to the heroic efforts of first responders, community members, and rescue staff, so many dogs were saved, though six were sadly lost. The surviving dogs are now safe and secure with other shelters and foster families, but all of the supplies that keep them comfortable and cared for were destroyed.
For rescue dogs, a shelter is more than a building. It is a place of safety, healing, and second chances. The people at OSCAR pour their hearts into giving these animals love and care every day and right now, they need to feel the support of their community. This is where our students and families can make a meaningful difference. A simple donation such as a blanket, a harness, or a toy, can bring comfort to a dog who has been through a very difficult time. It also gives our children the chance to practice empathy and see how acts of kindness truly matter. Together, we can help bring comfort and care back to animals who need it most.
