Flocktown-Kossmann Weekly Newsletter

Wolf

FKS Community,

We finally had the opportunity to enjoy some sunshine and warm weather this past week. Although it was brief, many classes took the opportunity to take their learning outide for some much needed fresh air and Vitamin D. A reminder that as the weather does start to become warmer, please make sure you send your child to school in appropriate layers.

Next week sees St. Patricks Day and wear green celebrations on Tuesday. Wednesday is Wolf Wednesday, the end of Trimester 2 and our monthly PTA meeting and Friday we look forward to our 3rd Grade Wolrd Culture celebration.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Sincerely,

Dr. Christopher Marangon and Mr. John Winsted

FKS Principal & Asst. Principal

Does Flocktown-Kossmann have the most spirit?

We need your vote!!! After finishing in 2nd place last year we are aiming for the top spot so we are calling all students, parents, and community members to show your school pride!

The Morris County School Spirit Award Contest 2026 is officially live, and your votes will determine which K-8 public school will earn the title of Most Spirited School in Morris County along with a monetary prize to benefit school programs and activities.

Visit the voting page here to cast your vote and help our school rise to the top! Every vote counts, so be sure to spread the word and encourage your friends, family, and neighbors to participate.

How It Works: Every public school in Morris County, K-8, is eligible to participate. Voting is open to students, parents, teachers, and the entire community. The top three schools with the most votes at the end of the contest win

First prize: $500, Second prize: $300, Third prize: $100

One District - One Book: The One and Only Ivan

Washington Township Schools are excited to embark on the second annual elementary school book club. Building on the huge success of last year’s events, we are thrilled to announce our One District, One Book initiative has launched! Each student will receive a copy of the book The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate.

The One and Only Ivan explores themes like empathy, animal rights, and the importance of understanding others’ experiences. The book won the Newbery Medal in 2013 and was later adapted into a film by Disney.

Check out the One District, One Book section of the district website HERE  for a calendar of nightly pages to read, audio read-alouds, videos, pictures, and other interesting information and activities! Please read the pages with your child, approximately 20 minutes per night.

Our goal is to build an even stronger Community of Readers across our schools. Reading aloud at home is a powerful way to help children become engaged readers while creating a special family bonding experience.
