In partnership with the Washington Township Police Department, we are committed to ensuring the safety of all students who walk after school. If your child is permitted to walk, please review the following expectations and emphasize the importance of using sidewalks and crosswalks when traveling through the center of town. We also ask that you remind your child to demonstrate general safe behavior and responsible citizenship when leaving the LVMS campus. Students who fail to do so may lose the privilege of leaving campus as a walker in the future.
As per the Washington Township Police Department, pedestrians are expected to walk on the sidewalk towards the center of town. When dismissed as a walker from LVMS, students will proceed down E. Mill Road and use the crosswalk at Fairmount Road. Students traveling towards Schooley's Mountain will cross over E. Mill Road (Image #1). Students traveling to Long Valley Shopping Plaza or elsewhere will continue on E. Mill Road past Mountain View Avenue to cross at the next marked crosswalk (Image #2). Students are only permitted to cross the road at marked crosswalks.
